MANILA, Philippines—St. Benilde star Will Gozum was disappointed with the way Letran’s Pao Javillonar defended him in Game 1 of the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball final on Sunday.
Javillonar is seen squeezing behind Gozum at 4:57 of the third quarter of Knight’s 81-75 Victorydismay the old man.
“Maybe it’s his personality, his personality, maybe it’s how he was raised, I don’t know,” Gozum said.
“Perhaps it was his attitude. We don’t accept that type of player. Physically, I can take, but all that? Any player can be disappointed,” the MVP leader also said.
With Javillonar trailing, Gozum still finished with a brace of 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Javillonar, meanwhile, says he was just toying with Gozum.
“Will knows that. That’s our damn game, the game of wits. Regardless of my strength as a defensive player, that’s what I will do. I will do anything to win,” the striker said after finishing with five points and nine pounds.
The Blazers will look to wrap up the series on Sunday, next week, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
