MANILA, Philippines—University of St. Benilde announced the top seed of the NCAA Season 98 Men’s Basketball Quarterfinals was completed on Wednesday.
Letran (13-5) was denied 1st place after one an incredible 87-71 loss to Jose Rizal . University on Wednesday.
The Knights defeat pushed the Blazers to the lead with a 14-4 scoreline and will clash with Number 4 San Beda Red Lions in the Finals.
Saint Benilde sweeps San Beda in the qualifying round.
Letran, meanwhile, has arranged a semi-final date with No. 3 Lyceum (June 12).
Pirates and Knights split their seasonal series. Lyceum came back from 19 points to beat Letran, 82-75, in their first match on October 2 while The Knights returned the favor in the second inning, 69-64, last October 28.
CSB and Letran will have a two-time advantage beating their respective opponents.
Lyceum and San Beda finished the knockout stages with an identical 12–6 record, but the Pirates claimed the third seed after beating the Lions twice in the knockout stages.
The Quarterfinals will begin on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena. Saints Benilde and San Beda meet at 12 noon while Letran and Lyceum fight at 3 pm
