MANILA, Philippines—The picture of the NCAA Season 98 Four Finals is still fuzzy but complications will depend on a number of situations.

Currently, St. Benilde is equaling defending champion Letran in first place with an identical record of 13-4.

If both teams go on to draw records at the end of the elimination round, the Knights will continue to be the top seed with a “beat others” advantage as they beat the Blazers twice in the knockout stages.

Either way, St. Benilde has won at least one playoff spot for a two-beat advantage with won Arellano on Sunday, 83-73.

The Blazers face San Beda, who are currently third in the standings, on Tuesday in the final game of qualifying.

If the Red Lions (12-5) lose, they will drop to fourth place, lifting Lyceum (12-6) to third place, also thanks to “winning others”. The Pirates wiped out San Beda in the knockout round with a score of 2-0.

If the Red Lions win, they’ll draw with the Blazers 13-5, resulting in a rubberfight for a two-beat advantage. Regardless of the outcome of that game, they will go on to face off in the Finals with Lyceum at the bottom of the table, facing the Knights.

Meanwhile, all the Knights need to do is win against Jose Rizal University for the top seed.

But if Letran draws with both Benilde and San Beda 13-5, the quotient system will be used to determine the first, second and third seeds.

While the scenario of the knockout stage may still be unclear, Blazer Robi Nayve hopes they can face Lyceum in the Finals with a one-win advantage.

“Actually, we are looking forward to facing Lyceum. Because we thought we would have a better chance against them, but if we do, our team has the potential to do something,” Nayve said after finishing with 17 points in today’s match. Sunday.

The Blazers defeated the Pirates twice in eliminations.

“If we play the Lyceum, that means we beat San Beda. That is our goal,” coach Charles Tiu explained.
