NCAA: Also-ran Arellano Lady Chiefs end season on high note, men’s team seals No. 2

MANILA, Philippines—Despite being eliminated from the NCAA Season 98 women’s volleyball tournament, Arellano ended his campaign with a landslide victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College 25-21, 25-23, 25-21, at the San Andres Complex on Tuesday.
Last season’s finalists finished the season with a 5-4 record but that wasn’t enough to get them through to the Quarterfinals.
In an hour and 30 minutes of play, Laika Tudlasan helped the Lady Chiefs take 14 points while Nicole Sasuman also scored 11 built on two blocks to win.
Krizzia Reyes scored 20 points but that wasn’t enough to help EAC win the season as they finished the season 1-8 at the bottom of the standings alongside Jose Rizal and San Beda University, the Schools also have similar records.

The captain also claimed his own victory after overcoming the Generals in five sets, 25-14, 22-25, 25-17, 17-25, 15-13, to become the second seed in the tournament. men behind the unbeaten team Perpetual Help. .
Anfernee Curamen and Kim Tan survived 5 grueling sets with 15 points each for Arellano. Jethro Cabillan proved to be the Chiefs’ defensive anchor on the floor with 14 points built on seven large blocks.
Arellano will be waiting for the winner of the San Beda match and the EAC in the men’s volleyball semifinals.
Team Altas secured a ticket to the Finals after finishing the knockout round with an impeccable record after nine games.
The ladder semi-finals will take place on Sunday at the San Juan Arena.
