NBA: Warriors score 50 in 2nd quarter, hold off Kings

Stephen Curry scored 28 of his game-high 33 points in a record-setting first Sunday night first half and the Golden State Warriors overcame the Sacramento Kings 130-125 in their return to San Francisco. Francisco by Mike Brown.

Sacramento’s third straight loss – the second in two nights – had their new coach, Brown, receive a heroic welcome in front of Warriors loyalists who watched him help concessions franchise, as an assistant coach, with three titles in the past six seasons, including one last year.

Brown in turn saw a fireworks display in the first half, in which the Warriors overcame the Kings 89-71. Notably, only a total of 95 points were scored in the second half as the Kings increased the lead in the 126-120 round with a score of 2:27 after Kevin Huerter’s change.

But typically in the last 24 minutes, both were bogged down and neither team scored again until Chimezie Metu beat 1:04 to go for the King in round four.

However, after another king stopped, Malik Monk mistakenly shot a 3-pointer that could have reduced the match to one point with 42.5 seconds left, and the Warriors won their second of three games with two shots. Free throws Jordan Poole and an Andrew Wiggins Dunk.

The first-half point boom included the Warriors’ franchise record of 50 in the second period. Output equaled the third-most scoring streak in NBA history in the second quarter, trailing only the Phoenix Suns’ 57th in 1990 and the Baltimore Bullets’ 52nd in 1965.

Curry had six 3-point lines that accounted for the majority of his 28-point total in the first two innings, contributing to 89 points in the first half, the fifth most in NBA history. The Warriors are one of only four teams with more, having dumped to 92 – second on the list – ahead of the Chicago Bulls on October 29, 2018.

Wiggins (18), Poole (12) and James Wiseman (12) also scored doubles before the break.

Wiggins and Poole finished with 24 points each, while Wiseman scored 14.

The Kings also had four doubles in the first-half penalty shootout, led by De’Aaron Fox with 17, Domantas Sabonis with 14, Keegan Murray with 13 and Monk with 10. Sacramento dropped 22 points in the half. . despite shooting 52 percent.

Fox leads the Kings with 26 points, followed by Sabonis with 19, Murray and Monk with 16, and Richaun Holmes with 15.

Fox, with the highest 10 assists in the game, and Sabonis, with the highest 14 rebounds in the game, scored doubles.
