Dalano Banton scored a career-high 27 points and the depleted Toronto Raptors held the Detroit Pistons 115-111 home on Monday.

Chris Boucher had 20 points and OG Anunoby provided 19 points and seven rebounds for the Raptors, who lost to the Pistons by six points. Malachi Flynn added 12 points.

Jaden Ivey leads Detroit with 21 points and eight assists. Bojan Bogdanovic had 18 points, Marvin Bagley III added 16 and Alec Burks scored 15 for Detroit, which had lost four games in a row.

Toronto’s point guard Fred VanVleet missed his second straight game due to a non-COVID-related illness. Backyard partner Gary Trent Jr and forwards Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa have been sidelined with multiple injuries.

Detroit’s second-highest scorer, Cade Cunningham, was sidelined for the third straight game due to left shin pain. Isaiah Stewart missed the second half due to a sprained right foot.

The Pistons made 13 turns in the first half as Toronto led 58-51. Neither side is ahead by more than nine points.

That quickly changed as Toronto opened the second half with a bold 7-0 scoreline.

A steal and dunk by Killian Hayes mid-half gave Toronto a 72-63 lead.

Flynn pulled three pointers with two minutes left in the third round to extend the Raptors’ advantage to 14, 86-72. Toronto led 88-77 in the fourth inning.

Ivey had eight points in the first 3:30 of the quarter, then ate rookie Jalen Duren with a smash. Hamidou Diallo made two free throws to cut the Raptors’ score 94-93.

Boucher did a headbutt on Banton’s feed to keep Detroit in the bay.

From there, the Raptors continued to cling to a slim lead. The score is 107-103 by Scottie Barnes on the left 2:30. Thaddeus Young’s goalkeeper helped the game to six points.

Bogdanovic hit three points in the last minute to give the Raptors a 111-108 lead. Ivey had a blocked layup attempt at Detroit’s next ownership. Banton then knocks down two free throws.

Ivey then made a 3-pointer, but Banton threw in two more free throws to seal Toronto’s victory.
