NBA: Pelicans get road win over Hornets for 2-0 start

Jonas Valanciunas had a strong start and completed a lengthy clutch on the way to a 30-point win as the New Orleans Pelicans beat hosts Charlotte Hornets 124-112 on Friday night.

Brandon Ingram picked up 28 points in his return home game and CJ McCollum added 21 points for the Pelicans, who led throughout the game and fended off Charlotte’s fourth-quarter comeback. Zion Williamson joined with 16 people.

Valanciunas, who also had 17 rebounds, made 8 of 11 shots from the field and succeeded 13 for 14 on free throws. New Orleans beat the Hornets 32-11 on free throws.
