NBA: Late 10-0 run carries Heat past Pistons
Jimmy Butler had 26 points and 10 assists and the Miami Heat visitors used a late 12-0 lead to take down the Detroit Pistons 112-100 on Sunday.
Bam Adebayo provided 22 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks for Miami (39-34). Tyler Herro had 19 points and 6 bounces, Caleb Martin scored 13, and Kevin Love added 12 points and 8 bounces.
James Wiseman led Detroit (16-56) with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Cory Joseph had 16 points, Rodney McGruder contributed 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Marvin Bagley III added 14 points after missing three games due to ankle pain. Killian Hayes scored twice with 13 points and 11 assists.
The Pistons, which have seven players sidelined by injury, have lost 14 of their last 15 games. Jalen Duren left the game in the third quarter after a collision with Love.
The Heat took a 52-47 lead after halftime with 11-0 assist at the end of the second half. Martin leads Miami with 10 points, while Bagley and McGruder each have 12 points for Detroit. Points on the bench were key, as the Heat’s reserves overcame their opponents 17-4.

The Pistons used a 7-1 rush, capped by Wiseman’s 3-pointer, to take a 56-55 lead. A three-point play from Wiseman gave his team the advantage 66-62.
A pair of Joseph’s baskets extended the score to 71-64. Eugene Omoruyi knocked out a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the round, giving Detroit an 81-74 lead.
A 3-pointer from Martin dragged the Heat within two points with an 82-80 score. A shot from Adebayo with eight minutes left cut the score to 89-88. The Heat even pulled 96 on a Butler jumper.
Herro scored three points from the flank after Butler’s cross at 3:20, giving Miami a 101-98 lead. Butler turned it into a five-point game with a spin jump. Herro scored the next five points to end the game.
Detroit beat Heat 116-96 in Miami in the first ever meeting between the clubs of the Eastern Conference on December 6.
