NBA: Lakers’ Russell Westbrook doubtful vs Denver with hamstring injury
Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook is suspected of playing against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night with a hamstring injury.
Westbrook picked up the injury in a pre-season game on October 14 when the Lakers used the veteran as a substitute. He said that going into the game as a substitute definitely had a negative effect on his hamstring.
“I did the same thing for 14 years straight,” Westbrook said. “Honestly, I didn’t even know what to do when I was pregnant. Honestly, I’m trying to find a way to stay warm and comfortable.”
Westbrook attended Tuesday’s training session but did not participate. He went with the team to Denver.
Westbrook has started all of the Lakers’ first three games and is averaging 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists. Westbrook scored 28.9% in those three games, all Lakers losses.
Los Angeles may launch Austin Reaves, Troy Brown Jr. or Juan Toscano-Anderson replacing Westbrook in the starting lineup.
