NBA: Kings top Spurs for fifth straight win

De’Aaron Fox scored a team-high 28, Malik Monk scored 26 – including two crucial 3-pointers in a connecting run between the third and fourth quarters – and the Sacramento Kings won five. won in a row on Thursday night with a 130-112 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Domantas Sabonis and Harrison Barnes each contributed 16 points as the Kings scored at least 120 in all five consecutive games.

Devin Vassell picked up a top 29 in-game for Spurs, who lost their third game in a row to usher in a five-game trip.

After recovering from 16 points down to make up three ties late in the third quarter, Spurs saw the Kings regain control by scoring the final seven points of the period. Fox had two rounds to start the pull-out, and when Monk hit a 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds left in the inning, Sacramento was suddenly seven points ahead 89-82.

The run didn’t stop there. Trey Lyles scored eight points with a free throw before Monk reconnected from deep, creating a double-digit advantage in the first minute of the fourth inning.

San Antonio never got closer than 10 after that.

Fox hit 11 of his 15 shots and Monk 11 of his 19, helping the Kings shoot 57.8% from the field. Fox also had time to post the highest 8 assists in the game, while Sabonis and Barnes shared the title of high rebound in the game with 8 assists.

Lyles (14) and Chimezie Metu (10) also scored twice as many goals for the Kings, who improved to 8-6 after starting the season 0-4.

Vassell shot 11 to 19 for Spurs, who lost despite taking 54.8% of their shots.

Keita Bates-Diop has 16 points for San Antonio, while Tre Jones has a total of 15 points, Jeremy Sochan and Isaiah Roby each add 11 points, and Jakob Poeltl 10 points with the highest seven rebounds on the team.

Ending the game 153-121 against the Brooklyn Nets two days earlier, the Kings were never behind. They took a 10-point lead over the first three minutes as Fox and Barnes scored three points in their opening game 12-2.
