NBA: Joel Embiid leads 76ers past Bucks
Joel Embiid had 32 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and three saves to lift the Philadelphia 76ers over the Milwaukee Bucks 110-102 on Friday.
Tyrese Maxey added 24 points but did not return after halftime because of a sprained left foot. Georges Niang scored 17, Shake Milton contributed 15 and De’Anthony Melton had 10 with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Sixers continued to play without James Harden (tendon strain in the foot). Tobias Harris is also a late scrape with left hip pain.

The short-sleeved Bucks played without some key players injured such as Khris Middleton (wrist), Joe Ingles (knee), Pat Connaughton (calf) and Wesley Matthews (hamstring).
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 25 points and 14 rebounds but only shot 4/15 from the free throw. Bobby Portis added 21 points and 11 rebounds and Brook Lopez scored 15. Jrue Holiday has the number 10 coming on from the bench.
The Bucks took the lead throughout the first half, but Maxey closed in on the Sixers. Down 56-46, Maxey and Shake Milton overcame Antetokounmpo by eating 3 points in a row to reduce Philadelphia’s deficit to 6 with 1:53 remaining in the second quarter.
Antetokounmpo led the Bucks by 15 points and Portis by 13 as they had a 62-55 advantage after halftime. The Bucks took down 8 of 17 shots from 3-point territory.
Maxey overtook the Sixers with 24 points on a 9 to 12 shot but looked like he twisted his leg and went into the dressing room with 1:34 remaining in the first half.
Embiid was whistled for a rough 1st foul on Antetokounmpo with 5:48 left in the third round.
Jordan Nwora took a shot from the wing and Portis followed with 3 points and the Bucks led 77-73 with 3:47 remaining.
But the Sixers responded with a 12-0 scoreline and held an 89-84 advantage at the end of the third inning.
Portis made a 6:31 jump and the Bucks led 97-94, but Embiid scored in the low post in the Sixers’ next possession.
Niang created a three-point play with 4:58 left to give the Sixers a 99-97 advantage.
The Sixers took a 104-99 lead when Embiid made a short jump in the lane with 3:03 to go through.
