NBA: Joel Embiid leads 76ers comeback win vs Magic
Joel Embiid had 35 points and 16 rebounds, Tobias Harris scored 26 points, including all three at the end of extra time, and the Philadelphia 76ers overcame a 17-point deficit in the first half to beat hosts Orlando Magic 116-114 on Sunday night. .
Harris hit a corner with 31.7 seconds to start extra time as the 76ers took the lead 114-113. Orlando’s Franz Wagner took one of the two free throws with 9.2 seconds remaining as the Magic closed in 115-114, and James Harden beat his 13th foul in the game to just 6.7 seconds to bring Philadelphia two points.

The Magic handled the ball to allow Cole Anthony to control the ball, but Matisse Thybulle contested the second-year keeper’s long 3-pointed effort when time expired. Anthony scored nine of 19 points in extra time, including his three 3-pointers.
Harden finished with 26 points, taking 13 of 15 free throws, in a 5-to-19 shoot. He also had six rebounds, six assists and three steals as Philadelphia improved to 6-1 with Harden wearing a Sixers uniform.
Harris also dropped 9 rebounds. Georges Niang made four 3-pointers and scored 16 from the bench as the Sixers beat Orlando for the eighth time in a row and completed four games of the season.
Philadelphia overcame Orlando 30-24 in the fourth round, but Tyrese Maxey (10 points) missed 3 points from the right in the final with the 104th-placed team.
Embiid (seven assists) made 15 free throws in a row, before missing his last two, as Philadelphia made 32 of 37 as a team.
Wendell Carter Jr totaled 23 points and 12 rebounds, but Orlando missed out on his first three-game winning streak of the season. Markelle Fultz had a top 11 assists of the season and got eight of 51 points off Orlando’s bench.
The Magic stopped Philadelphia’s free-throw wave by taking 18 out of 43 3-pointers.
Orlando missed nine consecutive goals early in the third half, allowing the Sixers to close a 12-point lead at halftime and draw 63. The Magic responded with a 9-0 win on the lead. 80-74 after three quarters. although the Sixers go 9/9 at the free-throw line during this time.
The Sixers took a 19-18 lead after Embiid’s jump with 3:57 left in the opening half, but Orlando scored 39 of the next 60 points for a 57-40 advantage. The Magic had a 17-0 advantage in quick break points in the first half, while 11 free throws helped the 76ers maintain the score 59-47 after halftime.
