NBA: Ja Morant, Grizzlies rout Pacers to win 9th straight

Desmond Bane scored 25 points, Ja Morant added 23 points and 10 assists and the Memphis Grizzlies extended their winning streak to the highest nine games of the season with a 130-112 win over the Indiana Pacers. on Saturday in Indianapolis.

Santi Aldama has 17 points, Ziaire Williams has 13 and Steven Adams has 10 points and nine rebounds for Memphis, who lead with 34 points and a 55.2% shot rate. Brandon Clarke scored 11 points and Jaren Jackson Jr. score 9 points and 10 bounces.

Chris Duarte scored 25 points to lead Indiana, while Bennedict Mathurin added 16, TJ McConnell had 13 points and 11 assists and Isaiah Jackson had 12. Indiana lost its third game in a row, shooting 36.9% from the field and 11 of 47 (23.4%) from three points.

Memphis improved its top 16 in 16 games of the season above 0.500 after taking control midway through the second quarter. Jaren Jackson Jr. finished with two blocks, extending his record with multiple blocks to a 13-game franchise record.

Morant, who has averaged 30.5 points in his last six games, excited the crowd on the street with a thunderous pitch midway through the third quarter, giving the Grizzlies an 87-67 lead.

Morant scored 10 points in the third inning to give Memphis a 97-79 advantage going into the final bracket, and Indiana failed to pull the impressive distance from there.

Bane triumphantly returned home, shooting 10/19 shots from the field, including 5/11 from 3 points.

Indiana, which played without injured starters Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner, led 36-28 before opening the second half 12-2.

The match drew 41 with 9:11 left in the first half before Jaren Jackson Jr. off the field, sparking a 13-2 win for the Grizzlies.

Memphis led 68-52 in the first half after shooting from 53.1% and holding Indiana to 32.7%.

Morant, Bane and Williams combined to bring 36 points in the half for the Grizzlies, the team’s highest four consecutive long-distance wins of the season.

Indiana forward Aaron Nesmith has played after sitting out the past two games due to a non-COVID illness and has six points and seven rebounds.
