NBA: Green says Warriors need to put their ‘hard hats on’ after blowout loss
Golden State forward Draymond Green said the Warriors are playing a different Memphis team than the one they prepare for now as Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been absent and need to refresh their game plan after broke out on Wednesday.
The Grizzlies cut the Warriors’ lead in the best-of-seven series to 3-2 after embarrassing the visitors 134-95 in the 5th Half in Memphis.
“I don’t think we have to worry about anything,” Green said on his podcast, Draymond Green Show, after the game.
“We understood that this was a different team (without Morant) and we had to play this team differently and we had to approach this Game Six differently,” he said.
“We are going back home, we want to get the home audience involved. And come out and put your hard hat on. That’s what we have to do. “
Explosive All-Star guard Morant was the Grizzlies’ main scoring choice against the Warriors but suffered a knee injury late on Tuesday and the team have said he is uncertain of his return after this season.
The Grizzlies’ youth squad have gone 20-5 without Morant this season and have done a better job of recovering and scoring against the Warriors in his absence.
The committed and unsightly Warriors turned 22 on and gave up 18 counterattacks on Wednesday for the Grizzlies, who will be looking to tie a Game Seven at their home turf when they visit Chase Center on Friday.
“We go back to the drawing board,” Green said.
“Travel tomorrow, gunfight on Friday, make our adjustments and get ready for Game Friday.
“Nobody said it would be easy.”
