NBA expert suggests 76ers will ask Harden to take a pay cut
One notable NBA pundit says that no one in the league is expecting the Philadelphia 76ers to offer their superstar scorer James Harden a maximum contract for the season.
76ers still reeling from their Thursday Match 6 lost to Miami Heat and were knocked out of the 2022 NBA Playoffs. The team put on a disappointing performance at home and Harden left much to be desired after an 11-point night on a 4-9 shot from the field. It’s not the kind of Philadelphia outing decision makers hoping for a big game when they get him on the NBA trade deadline.
Next season, the former Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets star has a player selection worth more than $47 million. He is expected to exercise the option, however, the 14-time All-Star player is also eligible for a $223 million multi-year extension this summer. After the deal and after basking in the glory of not being played with former starting guard Ben Simmons, it appears the team will offer to renew Harden and keep him and MVP candidate Joel Embiid at together for many seasons to come. Well, things have changed a lot since then.
