NBA: Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers overpower Bulls
Donovan Mitchell collected 32 points, nine rebounds and eight assists to propel the Cleveland Cavaliers away to a 128-96 win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.
Mitchell took 10 of 19 shots from the floor – including 4/6 from 3-pointers – to help the Cavaliers get their first win of the season. The critically-acclaimed season buyback erupted with 31 points and nine assists in Cleveland’s 108-105 season-opening loss to Toronto on Wednesday.
Evan Mobley added 16 points and Kevin Love sank five 3s as part of his 15-point, 12 rebound performance. Cedi Osman scored 15 points from the bench and Caris LeVert added 14 points and 8 assists.
The Cavaliers didn’t miss a beat despite playing without All-Star Darius Garland, who ripped his left eyelid during Wednesday’s game. Cleveland hit 56.5% from the floor (48 out of 85) and 59.3% from three points (16 out of 27).

Chicago’s Zach LaVine took nine of 16 shots and finished with 23 points on his season debut. The two-time All-Star has missed the team’s first two games due to a knee injury.
Nikola Vucevic had 16 points and DeMar DeRozan added 13 before being eliminated in the fourth quarter for the Bulls, who lost both ends of the set.
Cleveland held on to the accelerator in the first half and fired 62.8 percent from the floor (27 of 43) and 71.4 percent from the 3-point range (10 of 14) to take a 70-54 lead at the time. pause. The Cavaliers also scored 18 assists on 27 shots taken.
Cleveland scored seven of the last nine points of the first quarter and 19 of the first 28 points in the second half to lead 53-34. Mitchell and Osman each won 3 points in the second quarter before the firing of Jarrett Allen limited the rise.
