NBA: Clippers take control late to beat Mavericks

Kawhi Leonard had 30 points and nine rebounds, and the Los Angeles Clippers dominated the fourth quarter with a 112-98 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

Paul George scored 21 and Norman Powell added 19 for Los Angeles, beating the Mavericks 33-19 in the final half.

Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 22 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 21 points for Dallas, who have lost six of their past eight games.

Playing in the 600th NBA game of his career, Leonard hit one of his three 3-pointers with the remaining 4:18 to give the Clippers a 103-93 lead.

George’s diver made it through the lap 12-4 with 2:16 remaining and gave the Clippers a 110-95 lead. Powell scored 11 points in the fourth quarter for Los Angeles, which won two games in a row after losing nine of 11 games.

In a game that featured 12 changes to the lead, Dallas scored the last four points of the first inning to take a 22-20 lead. With a five-point lead, Dallas used the 15-1 scoreline to take a 42-33 lead at the end of the first half. The Mavericks lead 54-49 after halftime.

Dinwiddie has 13 points to lead all scorers, while Doncic is without an assist in the first half of this season for the first time.

Los Angeles regained the lead after opening the third half with a 19-8 scoreline before Dallas responded with seven straight points to take a 69-68 lead.

Dallas ended the third inning with a draw with the Clippers after Doncic scored the final three points of the half to give the Mavericks a 79 lead.

Los Angeles completed 30 of 31 (96.8%) from the foul line, while the Mavericks were 15 of 26 (57.7%).

Reggie Jackson scored 10 points for the Clippers, whose second straight win over Dallas followed a 113-101 home win on January 10.
