NBA: Bucks cancel Game Seven watch party after shootings
Defending NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks said Saturday it canceled plans to host a series-defining game-show party against the Boston Celtics after three separate downtown shootings left 21 injured person.
The shooting happened Friday near a Milwaukee entertainment district, where thousands of fans watched as Bucks lost game six of the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
The Bucks said the decision to cancel the watch party for Game Seven, which will be played in Boston on Sunday afternoon, was made so law enforcement could devote the necessary resources to investigating the shooting.
“The shooting that occurred in downtown Milwaukee last night was horrifying and we condemn this heinous violence,” the Bucks said in a statement.
“We are grateful to local law enforcement for their courageous efforts to try to prevent a dangerous and complicated situation.”
The Bucks said all business in the so-called Deer County that surrounds their arena will remain open as usual.
