Nationwide $3 movie deals attract record number of customers on National Film Day

One Movie ticket promotion $3 aimed at boosting sales across movie theaters during a typically sleepy weekend for the business that attracted 8.1 million customers, according to the National Association of Theater Owners.
By those numbers, Saturday is the best day of the year to go to the cinema, the group said.
According to Comscore, theaters grossed $24.3 million in ticket sales from the National Cinema Day promotion. The media analytics firm said it was up 9% from the previous week.
More than 3,000 cinemas and 30,000 cinemas in the United States have participated in the initiative, including major chains like AMC Entertainment and Cinema Reign as well as independent cinemas. Featured movies include Paramount“Top Gun: Maverick,” Warner Bros Discovery’s “DC League of Super-Pets” and Sonyby “Bullet Train.”
Some movie theater chains also offer discounts on deals.
Ticket sales have been struggling in recent weekspartly due to fewer summer releases.
The nonprofit Motion Picture Foundation, part of the National Association of Theater Owners, hopes the ticket-reduction initiative will encourage customers to return to theaters, especially ahead of some major movie releases planned. planned for the fall, like Warner Bros.’s “Black Adam.” and Disneyof “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
