New national lottery operator Allwyn said punters are still betting despite the rising cost of living, as revenue grew 50% in the first half of the year.
The Czech gambling company, owned by billionaire Karel Komarek, says that squeezing consumers has little effect on betting.
The team reported net revenue from the game of £939 million in the six months to June, up from £617 million a year earlier.

Profits increased by 45%, from £321m to £464m.
However, Allwyn is still embroiled in a legal battle with Camelot, who they hope will replace as National Lottery operator in 2024 if the legal conflict is resolved.
Camelot is appealing the Supreme Court’s decision to allow Allwyn to run the game after the Gambling Commission selected it as its preferred contractor in March.
A hearing is scheduled for September.
