My favorite, Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED 34-in, is £156 off at Dell UK

Dell’s Alienware AW3423DW is my favorite ultra-wide monitor, thanks to its gorgeous 34-inch QD-OLED display that delivers perfect blacks, near-instant pixel response times, and stunning colors. With its widescreen 1440p (3440×1440) resolution and 175Hz refresh rate, it’s both detailed and responsive, and it looks part of the great spatial design as well.

I was lucky enough to review one in a few months for the Digital Foundry – I think Dell forgot about it for a while – so I consider it my duty to inform you that it is currently on sale for the first time. first, down from £1099 to £943 – still a big chunk of change, but the price is right on Black Friday for one of the best monitors on the market by any description.

Dell (and its subsidiary Alienware) make a lot of great monitors, but the difference here is that this is one of the few to use Samsung’s Quantum Dot OLED display. This technology provides better brightness and is less sensitive to flare than traditional OLED displays, but still provides the color, contrast and all the other great qualities that make OLED so amazing. as desirable as both the monitor and the TV. This also means that, as well as being great for gaming, this is a great screen for watching movies and TV, even though 16:9 content is surrounded by bars (completely black!) at two beside.

I could go on about why this Dell monitor is so adorable, but I fear it will quickly fall into a state of mindless stupidity. Let me move on to a more rigorously written review, lifted from my post on Eurogamer:

Dell Alienware AW3423DW is the best 1440p ultrawide we’ve ever tested [with] limitless contrast with perfect blacks, wide color gamut, instant pixel response time, and better brightness (~500nits) than traditional OLED displays. The 3440×1440 175Hz spec is ideal for PC use, whether gaming or content creation, but isn’t suitable for consoles… the motion handling is superb, making this monitor a go-to monitor. into a great monitor for fast-moving games like shooters or racing, while the 34-inch curved screen is great for…

I have to give this monitor a strong recommendation, but I should also mention two other problems of unconventional display technology: the screen can burn out, although there are plenty of countermeasures, and user habits to prevent this, and the text is not as sharp as most other monitors due to the different subpixel structure. Neither of these bothered me during my testing, but if you’re particularly concerned you should do your own research to draw your own conclusions.

It really is a great monitor and I haven’t known anyone to get it and not fall in love with it, so consider it if you’re looking for a high-end monitor. If you have any questions that I can answer based on time spent using the AW3423DW, let me know! Congratulations.
