Mumbai’s Aarey forest: The woman fighting to protect it from metro project
In the Indian megacity of Mumbai, there is an urban forest four times the size of New York’s Central Park.
This is home to an indigenous community living next to leopards.
The land is prime real estate and in recent decades much of it has been converted.
Now the government is working on a controversial plan to cut deeper into the forest to build a subway depot.
The project has sparked widespread protests and a conservation and development debate. We follow an indigenous family as they struggle to maintain their unique lifestyle.
