Moving over to Netflix, Disney Plus will be home to the best Death Note movie adaptation
Move over NetflixLooks like the best Death Note adaptation will be on Disney Plus instead, thanks to an unlikely assistant: The Simpsons.
The Simpsons is currently in its 34th season, and on October 30, the series’ annual Treehouse of Horror Halloween special will air. For years, we’ve seen Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie appear in horror parodies of The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street, Nineteen Eighty-Four, and Jumanji, and now they’re coming in. The world of the Death Note.
Death Note is a manga, anime and terrible Netflix movie about the Japanese teenage genius Light Yagami. After discovering the Death Note – a book that can lead to the doom of anyone whose name is written in it – Light declares himself the “God of this new world” and executes anyone on his own. whoever he considers evil.
However, not everyone believes in the righteousness of Light’s cause. Detective L and his task force take it upon themselves to capture Light (whom they call Kira) and end his pain of distorted justice.
In The Simpson’s Death Note, it’s none other than Lisa Simpson who discovers the book – called Death Tome in the animated show. Based on short clips of the episode that aired, Lisa will use the tome to end the life of anyone who stands in her way in her mission to save planet earth from pollution.
If borrowing the story’s premise wasn’t enough, The Simpsons goes even further by abandoning its usual style to create images that look like they could be ripped from the anime. That’s probably because the animators of Death Note, DR Movie, are the ones who wrote the episode, and we have to say it looks absolutely amazing.
The only disappointment is that Marge Simpson’s iconic blue hair has been cut short into a bun – we would have loved to have witnessed her monstrosity with the mane rendered in style. More realistic of Death Note.
Even so, fans of both Death Note and The Simpsons (including us) are excited to see the latest installment of the Treehouse of Horror. The reaction was particularly notable because it was in stark contrast to the reaction Netflix received when it announced that Strange things the creator will be Adapted from Death Note. While the Duffer brothers have proven successful with the horror genre, Netflix’s track record of adapting anime isn’t the best.
If you want to watch a parody of The Simpson’s Death Note, you’ll need to switch to traditional TV, at least for now. In the end, it will almost certainly join about 727 other episodes on Disney Plus, but unfortunately for those of you who only watch the shows through one of the best streaming service, which will take about a year to arrive in the US (based on season 33, which only arrives on Disney Plus on October 5). You’ll have to follow Fox on October 30 instead.
However, if you have access to one of the best VPN service out there (like VPN Express) you’re in luck, as Disney Plus in Australia has shown episodes from the 34th season of The Simpsons. It’s a bit slower than the latest episode on Fox in the US, but in a matter of weeks you’ll be able to book your location to Australia and watch The Simpson’s Death Note episode in all its glory.
