Mother’s tribute to ‘little sunshine boy’ killed in tractor collision on farm in Bury | UK News


The mother of a three-year-old boy killed in a tractor collision on a farm in Bury has expressed gratitude for her “emotional and caring” son.

Albie Speakman dies in tragedy in Tottington area on Saturday afternoon.

His mother, Leah, has described him as her “sunshine boy”.

She said: “Albie is an incredibly loving, affectionate and caring boy.

“He’s very sensitive and wants everyone to be okay, especially the people he holds dear.”

Police were called after Albie’s family flagged a passing ambulance to a stop while trying to get him to the hospital.

He was pronounced dead by paramedics before being taken there, from his injuries sustained while on farmland off Bentley Hall Road.

Chief Inspector Ian Partington, of Greater Manchester Police, described it as a “heartbreaking incident”.

Officers are continuing to investigate along with the Chief Health and Safety Officer.

The tribute from Albie’s mother continued: “He loved to play – whether it was with family or friends at daycare – he was always looking for the little round things wherever he went, kicking, polystyrene balls, bouncing balls, beads – I’m not sure why but he just loves anything round, he’ll just hold on to them.

“His favorite memories are at Cleethorpes beach, with his bucket, spade and ball. His happiest days are on that beach, we are so free and without any any interest in the world.

“Just me and Albie and nothing else matters. Whenever I ask him what he wants to do, he wants to go on a beach vacation; that’s how I know he’s really happy there. .”
