More than 300 people fined for drunk driving on New Year’s Eve in Delhi

According to official data shared by the police, a total of 1,329 restraining orders have been issued for different types of traffic violations.

In total, 318 people were fined for drunk driving, 175 people for dangerous driving, 55 people driving in the wrong direction, 47 people driving three people, 70 people driving underage and 664 people driving without wearing helmets, while 53 vehicles were impounded. spot, it said.

Traffic police deployed 114 teams, equipped with breath analyzers, to check drunk driving on Saturday, they said.

Special forces were also established to check motorcycle stunts, speeding and reckless driving in coordination with local police and PCR at key points in Connaught Place, Mehrauli, Saket, Nehru Place, Vasant Vihar, South-Extension, Rajouri Garden, Pitampura, Netaji Police said Subhash Place, Laxmi Nagar, Mayur Vihar, etc.

To check for traffic violations, teams were deployed at various points over the last three days of 2022, police said.

Since December 29, a special sweep has been carried out in Delhi and a total of 3,830 people have been fined for various traffic violations.

In total, 661 people were fined for drunk driving, 514 dangerous driving, 186 reverse driving, 134 three-person driving, 192 underage driver and 2,004 unarmed driver helmets, while 143 vehicles were impounded on the spot. official data stated.

Meanwhile, only four calls were received at the ‘112’ helpline number, they said.

Official data says that in 2021, 25 people will be fined for drunk driving, 19 in 2020 and 299 in 2019.

While road accidents claimed two lives on New Year’s Eve 2019, three deaths were reported in 2020 and one death in 2021.

No road accident deaths were reported as of December 31, 2022.

This is possible because the city has elaborately arranged traffic arrangements to check the rate of rash and negligent driving on New Year’s Eve.
