More than 200,000 people sign petition to release Texas brothers accused of murdering stepfather for allegedly sexually abusing their sister
More than 230,000 people are calling for two Texans and their friend to be released from prison, Roomies. Three young men were arrested for allegedly beating their stepfather to death after he was accused of sexually abusing their sister.
Follow New York PostAlejandro Trevino, 18, and Christian Trevino, 17, became “angry” after discovering that their stepbrother, Gabriel Quintanilla, allegedly touched their sister inappropriately. Quintanilla has an arrest warrant for sexually abusing another child.
Authorities say the Trevino brothers confronted Quintanilla at his home last week before things got serious. Their friend, Juan Melendez, is said to have joined the fight. Three teenagers are said to have hit Quintanilla with brass knuckles.
Juan Melendez and Christian Trevino have been charged with murder and aggravated assault, while Alejandro Trevino has been charged with aggravated assault and participation in organized crime activity.
“Three teenagers are currently in custody and have deposits of more than $1 million each,” the online petition reads. “If convicted of murder, they face a minimum sentence of life in prison without parole. We ask the state of Texas to release these teenagers who could spend the rest of their lives in prison protecting their sister.”
The petition, created on Change.org, has garnered 246,000 signatures as of Friday morning.
