More than 2.78 lakh electric vehicles registered in India by 2023, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said
Union of Highways and Transport Ministers Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said more than 2.78 thousand electric vehicles have been registered in the country in the calendar year 2023 so far.
Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are in the process of switching to Vahan portal and hence their data on tram Gadkari said in a written reply to Lok Sabha, registration is partially included while Telangana and Lakshadweep data is not available on the portal.
According to the data on the portal, the number of electric vehicle (EV) registrations in India has increased to 1020,679 in 2022 from 329,808 in 2021.
Responding to a separate question, Gadkari said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has planted 344.27 lakh trees under the Green Highways Policy between 2016-17 and 2022-23. to February 2023).
In response to another question, he said NHAI envisions developing roadside utilities (WSA) every 30-40 kilometers on rural national highways and rural highways.
To date, 156 WSAs have been awarded, Gadkari added.
According to Mr. Gadkari, in order to promote easy business for private investors, the ministry has facilitated applications for registration certificates for the establishment of automatic inspection stations and waste facilities. whether the vehicle is registered through the National Single Window (NSWS).
The minister said that currently, 18 states/UTs are working on NSWS to accept applications for the Voluntary Vehicle Fleet Modernization Program (V-VMP).
The states/UTs that live on NSWS include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, among others.
He said the government has received applications from 79 investors to set up registered scrap car facilities across 17 states, of which 48 have been approved by the respective states.
According to the data provided by the minister, 8,220 second-hand vehicles were scrapped in the country between January 2022 and March 20, 2023. The maximum amount of old vehicles discarded in Uttar Pradesh (6,247), followed by Gujarat (1,244) and Assam (357).
