RAJKOT: Several social, religious and business organizations came out on Saturday to support Oreva Group executives Jaysuk Patelwho was arrested in connection with the October 30, 2022 Morbi suspension bridge collapse that killed 135 people.
Umiyadham-Sidar, the highest religious body of the Kadva Patidar community, the Morbi Ceramics Association, the Morbi Truck Transport Association, the Association of Self-financed Schools, and other organizations praised the social work. of Patel and sent him letters of support.
Sources say, a movement has been initiated by these organizations to support him. Shree Umiyamataji Mandir Trust-Sidar, in a letter to all followers, stated: “We sympathize with the families of the Morbi Bridge collapse victims. But Jaysukhbhai Patel of Oreva Group is a leading social leader and entrepreneur who also fulfills his social responsibility and national duty.”
The letter also states that Patel accepts management of the suspension bridge as a social responsibility solely to preserve Morbi’s legacy. He has spent tens of thousands of rupees on the maintenance of the bridge and has no intention of making money from the tickets.
Other organizations that voiced support for Patel include Shree Sardar Leuva Patidar Samaj Tankara, Akhil Gujarat Patidar Seva SamajAhmedabad, Morbi Paper Mills Association, etc.
