First quarter sales at Italian fashion group Moncler rose 23% at fixed exchange rates, beating analyst expectations, boosted by Chinese demand and solid growth in the EMEA region.
Total revenue for the three months ended March totaled 726.4 million euros ($799 million), well above the company-supplied analyst consensus of 689 million euros.
Sales at Moncler’s main brand were up 32% in Asia year-over-year, while in the Americas, sales were up 9%. In EMEA, sales grew 29%, driven by both local demand and tourist purchases, especially from Americans and Koreans.
The group added that it has appointed Robert Triefus as CEO of rock island brand to “lead the second phase of development, dedicated to the strategic evolution of the brand and the development of its international relevance.”
Global quarterly sales of the Moncler brand increased 28% to €604.8 million in the quarter, while Stone Island sales rose 5% to €121.6 million.
Both brand reported double-digit growth in the retail segment.
