A variety of high-end Work list revealed some details about The Molasses Flood coming soon witch games, codenamed Project Sirius. The studio behind Flame In The Flood is buying of CD Projekt Red in 2021, and the CDPR first mentioned Sirius in a call for investors last October. The project was initially described as “a creation in the The Witcher universe to tell an unforgettable story.” We now know that this “unforgettable story” can be told in a multiplayer game, or at least a game with lots of social and multiplayer elements.
Job list for premium multiplayer designer mentions co-op and PvE settings, multiple game modes, “classroom design” and “social activity”. It’s hard to speculate so early, but I wouldn’t object to hanging out at Kaer Morhen – or any other Witcher school – between quests. Although, my fondness for Gwent can become a compulsion if you let me play it with friends.
Other job postings call the game a “Stylized” and “system heavy action adventure game.” Even if Project Sirius plays similarly to CDPR RPGs, it might look a little different. This “stylized” approach would match Molasses’ previous looks with Flame In The Flood and Drake Hollow. The only other interesting thing is to mention “branching and non-linear storytelling,” this sounds especially interesting in the multiplayer space. Of course, like any project in development, all of this is subject to change until it becomes commonplace.
Project Sirius is just one of many Witcher games in development right now. At last year’s “long-term product outlook,” CDPR announced that it was working on a trilogy of brand new Witcher games, while one rework, do it again of The Witcher in 2007 is being transferred to The Fool’s Theory.
The Witcher series has been in the news a lot lately thanks to The Witcher 3’s next-gen update. The update is one little trouble for PC folks, but last month fixed version seems to have fixed some ray tracing and performance issues.
