Moderna is suing two of its major competitors in the COVID-19 vaccine market, Pfizer and BioNTech, alleging that the two companies used their patented technology in developing the injections. their mRNA.

Both the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech snapshots are mRNA snapshots – a technology that was little used before it entered the mainstream during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moderna alleges that the two competing companies copied technology they patented between 2010 and 2016.

Moderna previously chose not to enforce its patent on the rollout of a Covid vaccine in an effort to avoid suffocating global vaccination rates. It then changed its policy in March, now only promising not to enforce its patents in ways that could harm low- and middle-income countries.

Pfizer and BioNTech have been the big winners in the implementation of the footage. Pfizer alone is expected to make around $32 billion in revenue from its footage around the world — with this number likely to grow as Omicron-specific footage is approved. Moderna is right behind, projecting $19 billion in global Covid vaccine sales this year.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company has faced allegations of infringing on its own patents. In February, two biotech companies based in Vancouver, Canada sued Moderna, alleging that they misappropriated its nanoparticle technology during the development of the photograph.
