Mobile Internet service will resume in Punjab, Pause to resume in Ferozepur, Parts of Amritsar, Mohali
The Punjab government on Tuesday extended the suspension of SMS and mobile Internet services in Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur and the Ajnala subdivision of Amritsar and some areas in Mohali until noon on Thursday.
The Department of the Interior and Justice said in an order.
“… it is directed that all mobile internet services (2G/3G/45/5G/CDMA/GPRS), all SMS services (excluding banking and mobile recharge) and all all dongle services offered on mobile networks, excluding voice calls, within the territorial jurisdiction of Punjab will continue to be suspended from March 21 (12 hours) to March 23 (12). hours) only in districts of Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur, Ajnala subdivision in Amritsar, areas adjacent to YPS chowk and airport road, also in SAS Nagar to continue this office order number 1781 on 20 March in the interest of public safety, preventing any incitement to violence and preventing any disturbance of peace and public order,” it wrote.
The order states that mobile internet services in all remaining areas of the state will begin operating normally from 12 noon on March 21.
On Monday, the government of Punjab extend suspending mobile Internet and SMS services in the state until noon on Tuesday as the hunt for Khalistan’s alleged concurrence Amritpal Singh continued for a third day.
Notably, Broadband services are not suspended so that banking facilities, hospital services and other essential services are not disrupted, the order issued by the additional secretary of the interior ministry.
