Mitsubishi XFC SUV concept: design, interior, powertrain and launch details



XFC will first go on sale in Vietnam and then to other ASEAN markets.

Mitsubishi has revealed the new XFC SUV concept to preview its future Cretaceous competitor. Expected to be introduced at the upcoming Vietnam Motor Show 2022, this new SUV will be sold in the Vietnamese market first, then other ASEAN regions, where the Hyundai Creta is gaining popularity. . The production spec model will come with a variety of petrol engine options and will most likely also have a mild hybrid powertrain.

Exterior details of Mitsubishi XFC SUV concept

The XFC is an SUV concept with strong styling, according to the brand, in keeping with the company’s ‘Strong and Ingenious’ design philosophy. Seen from the front, the concept has a split headlight design, and as is the case with most new SUVs, it is likely that the production model will have DRLs at the top and main headlights below. From the shape, it has prominent wheel arches and prominent rear bumpers. At the rear, it has a distinct T-shaped tail light that gives an intuitive feel to the concept of width.

Interior details of Mitsubishi XFC SUV concept

On the inside, the XFC concept features a layered panel with a dual-screen setup as the main highlight. It also has a unique orange and white theme for the interior but the production version could use softer shades. Mitsubishi says the concept’s cabin has been designed with overall good visibility and practicality in mind, with a particular focus on rear-seat space.

Mitsubishi XFC Concept shares design elements with Renault-Nissan models

While the XFC Concept has a unique look, a closer look reveals a few hints of Renault-inspired SUV design, including the interior layout and dashboard.

Not surprisingly, as Mitsubishi is part of the Renault Nissan Alliance, and to help develop economies of scale, the Japanese automaker has models co-developed with Renault Nissan. The latest Mitsubishi ASX that has gone on sale in Europe is based on the European Renault Captur.

However, in terms of platform, the SUV may be based on the same architecture as the Mitsubishi Xpander MPV, which is also being sold in Vietnam and the ASEAN region.

Although Mitsubishi was a popular brand in India until a few years back, there is no news that the production version of the Mitsubishi XFC will come to India. However, Mitsubishi’s sister brands Renault and Nissan is present here in the compact SUV segment. Nissan recently introduced three of the global model in India and also confirmed the launch of the X-Trail SUV.
