Minnesota man arrested for stabbing teen to death while bathing in river
A Minnesota man has been arrested for the death of a stabbed teenager, in what was described as a stab wound that injured four others while crossing a river in Wisconsin.
Nicolae Miu, 52, was charged Monday with one count of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted first-degree murder for what he called an act of self-defence after reportedly doing lost a phone in the water in the Apple River on Saturday, News MPR reported.
According to authorities, the attack left 17-year-old honor student Isaac Schuman dead.
The family told KARE 11 in a statement: “We are all heartbroken and devastated that his future has been tragically and senselessly cut short.
The suspect claimed to be in self-defense after stabbing the teenager to death and injuring four others
Miu allegedly told investigators that “they attacked me” and that he was in “self-defense mode” when he pulled out a knife and stabbed the teenagers, according to MPR News.

Miu was soaking in a tub of water with his wife and some friends when he came across a group of teenagers while snorkeling and searching for a lost phone lying in a waterproof case. this newspaper reported.

A criminal complaint states that video of the incident, which was not immediately released, shows a group of teenagers moving forward, with one shoving Miu as he falls into the water.
Miu stabbed the teenager before he could shove him again, and then proceeded to stab others, according to the criminal complaint.
The witness said the suspect punched the young woman before the fatal situation
Several witnesses told police that Miu punched a young woman in the face before the deadly melee, with another witness claiming he swam to the same group and looked at them “really strangely”. and sketchy.”

According to KARE 11, despite Miu’s self-defense statement, prosecutors said he may have left before the situation escalated.

He has told authorities that his life is now “going downhill”, with his lawyer calling the incident a “coincidence”.
The sheriff’s department said Sunday the sheriff said Miu was lying in the spot 90 minutes after the attack after witnesses shared photos of him with authorities.
He is on $1 million bail in his first court appearance on Monday and could face life in prison if found guilty, MPR News reported.
