Minecraft The next big update is called Trails & Tales. We already know about most of the new features that come with the 1.20 update, but now we also know the release date: June 7th. Additions to longtime voxel favorites include one beautiful cherry blossom biome, an archeological feature, adorable camels and sniffing crowd voted by fans. Developer Mojang announced this date in their Minecraft Monthly video series.
Those new cherry blossom biomes yield new trees, meaning new woods, meaning new colors for craftable items. If you’ve ever wished for a pink front door, now is your time to shine. The camel crowds are another big highlight as they can accommodate two players, allowing you to stay close to your blocky friends. And let’s not forget the adorable sniffer, a new creature chosen in last year’s Minecraft mob vote.
We have got already know about the archeological system also. Any “suspicious sand” blocks in the desert biome can be brushed away, revealing the ceramic shard. Collect four of them and you will get a pot with a unique paint job. Finally, I’m a fan of pretty bookshelves and efficient storage, so I’ll be excited about the game’s new chiseled shelves if I’m still a Minecrafter.
The embedded video above also briefly mentions this month’s event for Minecraft Legends that will grant you a unique mount skin. Our Ollie has mixed feelings about the action-RTS combo game in his rating: “Once you’ve seen a biome, a mount, a pig outpost, a well-defended base, you’ve seen it all.” Still, it might be worth a quick try on Game Pass.
Regular Minecraft is better than ever. Maybe even better. Both the Java and Bedrock versions will receive the Trails & Trials update on June 7, as will the console versions.
