Yacht Club game, creators Shovel Knight announced that they are working on a new IP called Mina the Hollower and like her platform predecessor, Mina looks set to build on some vintage inspiration.
Revealed in a presentation about G4 This afternoon called Yacht Club Games Presents, Mina the Hollower is a new title that shares elements of The Legend of Zelda and Castlevania. Not far from the classic Shovel Knight aesthetic, Mina looks like it’s been ripped from the Game Boy Color era. As Mina, you’ll hit enemies, dig deep into the ground, and equip various extra weapons and trinkets to survive and save a cursed island rife with deadly villains and bosses.
Like Shovel Knight before it, Yacht Club Games is starting a Kickstarter campaign for Mina, but don’t worry; The studio is advancing most of the funding to make the project a reality. In the press release provided to Game informant, Director Alec Faulkner talks about why Kickstarter is getting back in action, saying, “We want your feedback, collaboration, and support in making Mina the Hollower the best game it can be. .” Alec continued, “While we are funding the majority of this project, we hope we can make a more expansive game this way. More importantly, we want to build a community on Kickstarter, like we did with Shovel Knight. We also want to share our development, more than ever! ”
To further boost the deal for backers, Yacht Club is working with Fangamer to create physical rewards such as “background music, enamel pins, an art book, and a lovely plush gift.”
There’s no release date for Mina the Hollower yet, but we’re hoping it will be rolled out and exploited soon.
