High school was tough already. But when you die, it gets even more complicated. Milo Manheim plays Wally in the new Paramount + series school spirit. I crossed the street with Maddie, do Peyton’s listwho finds himself trapped in the afterlife. hollywood life spoke EXCLUSIVELY with Milo about the dynamics of Wally and Maddie.
“I think he had an inexplicable connection to her at first, and he tried to be calm when he saw her for the first time,” Milo said. hollywood life in the program press conference. “But I think deep down he was really excited to have someone new, and then as he got to know her, I think he liked her more and more. I think he just likes who she is and as the show goes on, they involve a lot of things. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the show and Wally’s backstory is how he and Maddie connect.
Maddie doesn’t just hang out and relax in the afterlife. She is investigating her own mysterious disappearance in the real world. Milo notes that Wally always wants to “keep the peace” and doesn’t want to see Maddie “sad and confused”. He added, “As he explored her situation, I think he himself became really concerned about what had happened and confused and curious.”
During the season, the zombie alum revealed that school spirit will “dive into Wally’s personal life in the afterlife and in the real world… I’m really pleased with everything that Wally has to do and who he is. There are so many connections I can make with him. Wally is amazing. It’s refreshing to play a character like him, it’s fun and exciting.”
The big question that looms over the show is: what exactly happened to Maddie? Although Milo was unable to reveal any revelations, he did say that “there were tears, there was laughter, there was a collective breath and a sigh of relief” in the final table reading. “I am extremely pleased with the way the show ended and I think the audience will be pleased too,” he said.
What about season 2? Milo said, “There will be a lot more to explore in the second season if we get a second season, which I would love to have. I think it will be even better.” school spirit premieres March 9 on Paramount+.
