Microsoft improves Android gaming compatibility on Windows 11
The new preview build is currently only available to all Windows Insider channels in the US market. Microsoft has not shared any information about the availability of the new update for regular users. The company has also listed some known issues that can cause problems when running Android apps. Users can also submit their feedback if they have problems with Windows Subsystem for Android.
Known issues listed by Microsoft
According to the blog post, if users experience network connectivity issues while running Android apps on VPNthey can disable Advanced Networking in the Windows Subsystem for the Android Settings app. Microsoft has also mentioned that some VPNs do not support Advanced Networking.
Improvements in the new preview build
The company added a new set of shims that allow testers to switch in the Windows Subsystem for the Android Settings app. This new change is expected to improve the experience in some apps. In addition, the new build also adds gaming features like – compatibility for games with joysticks (mapped to WASD in the keyboard), gamepad support along with allowing arrow keys to aim and slide.
Furthermore, the new build will also add improvements in – scrolling, networking, security and graphics. Android app min window size will be set to 220dp in default settings in new build and will show better dialog when unsupported VPNs are detected.
Furthermore, a new toggle button will help testers to view/save diagnostic data in the Windows Subsystem for Android Settings app. Finally, the new build will also add some general reliability fixes such as diagnostic size improvements.
