Microsoft has rolled out a bunch of new smart features for Excel. Features have been rolled out to the Web, as well as to Windows and Mac users. New features for Web users include Suggested Links, Image Functions, Recipe Hints, Example Recipes, etc. Suggested Links feature detects broken external links to Cloud workbooks and suggest a new location to the user to edit them. The Image Function tool will allow users to resize cells, sort and filter, and work with images in Excel tables.
According to one blog post By Microsoft, Formula Suggestions and Formulas by Example are rolling out to Excel web users along with suggested links, Image functionality, and a new search bar in the query pane. For Windows users, the newly introduced Image function and keyboard shortcuts will allow users to open the Power Query editor, while Mac Excel users only have the Image function tool.
As detailed by Microsoft, the Suggested Links feature detects broken external links to the Cloud workbook and suggests the user a new location to fix the broken link. This feature is currently available for production.
The Recipe Suggestion feature automatically recommends the best recipe based on the user’s data. To access this feature, the user will be required to enter ‘=’ in a cell or formula bar. Currently, Excel can suggest SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, MIN and COUNTA formulas and it only supports English language.
On the other hand, Formula by Example makes manual data entry easier by defining a pattern and suggesting filling the entire column with a formula.
The Search Bar feature helps Excel for Web users to search and find their queries in the Query search pane.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is said to be Working on the tab feature for its Notepad app on 11 . window. The feature is currently in early internal testing and is expected to launch in early 2023. A Microsoft employee accidentally dropped an image of the feature on Twitter, however, it was subsequently deleted.
