Microsoft Edge 110 built-in VPN service rolled out to some users, may be available soon: Report
The new version of the Microsoft Edge browser is said to have been in testing for almost a year. It is assumed that it is currently being rolled out with the Secure Network VPN service available. However, only a handful of users have access to the latest stable version of Microsoft Edge. The update, which has only been available as an internal version until now, may be coming soon as it has already started rolling out to some users. The built-in VPN in the web browser is said to provide 1GB of free VPN traffic per month.
Microsoft has reportedly been working on the Edge browser to provide an extra layer of security. Development comes first note last year when Edge Secure Network with VPN was available detect on the support page of the Microsoft website. For now, it is expected that a new stable version of Microsoft Edge with built-in VPN service may be available soon.
Recent Twitter user Arnold Beckenbauer (@Arnold_Beckenba) share Screenshots suggest Microsoft Edge 110 implementation, including this feature. The feature is said to offer 1GB of free VPN traffic per month, with 15GB of total data free. To use data beyond the specified limit, users will have to pay an additional fee.
ONE report from DrWindows also revealed that the feature was developed in partnership with Cloudflare. However, the cost of the service is still unknown.
edgeAccording to the report, the user’s secure network provides an extra layer of security by replacing the user’s original IP address with another IP address in the same region. That way the user won’t have trouble accessing any website due to the wrong location. However, this also means that Edge’s VPN service will be a bit different from other VPN services that provide access to web services outside of one’s current region or country.
As seen from the screenshots, the Edge 110 secure network will support three modes of operation—Selected, Optimized, and All Pages. This will allow users to choose if they want to protect a few sites or all with a VPN.
