The comedian has a blunt way of describing his co-star that makes the audience swoon.
They “kill” on stage. There was no bloodshed, just laughter that echoed throughout the room.
That’s the highest praise a stand-up person can share, and that’s why Bill Burr used the phrase for the new Netflix special.
“Bill Burr’s Gift: Murderous Friends” Let the star “Paper Tiger” speak some of his own jokes before introducing his “killer” friends. That list includes Michelle Wolf, Jimmy Carr, Steph Tolev, Jeff Ross, Dave Attell, Ian Edwards, Joe Bartnick, Jessica Kirson, Dean Delray, Ronny Chieng and Josh Adam Meyers.
Ross and Attell are comedy institutions that don’t need this push. The same goes for Wolf, who has her own Netflix talk show and makes waves with her angry, partisan gigs uber at the 2018 White House Correspondents Dinner.
Wolf’s “Friends Who Kill” part unintentionally gave us a lesson in Woke Comedy 101.

Instead of delving into Harris’s pathetic approval numbers or fabled fairy tales, Wolf presents crowds to other countries that often have women in charge.
There is an interesting cultural point here. It’s not fun at all, at least not the way Wolf presents it. A better comic book series could bridge that gap, but Werewolf with shrill voices lacks those elements.
Wolf spends most of his time with white women mocking white women because, as she puts it, “it’s fun and easy.”
Wake up on steroids. And, as a comic book series, “easy” jokes are the laziest ones to tell.
Humorously notes that the MeToo movement died of self-inflicted wounds, a setting that could delve into exactly why that happened.
Instead, she digs a small piece – some women like to be dominated by men in the bedroom. Not bad, but she left out a lot of facts in the process.
And that’s what Wolf’s set lacks. Truth.
The best satire has truth at its core. That’s why when “The Simpsons” mocked President Donald Trump for a accused of lack of stamina it hit a sour note. Trump is a deeply flawed soul, but for a 70-year-old adult, he is a source of abundant energy.
Wolf time and time again lost his way with the truth after the female leaders opened, leaving behind a not-so-distant act of “murder”.
Then again, wake-up comedy isn’t meant to make us laugh.
