Michael Williams sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Angela Simmons’ ex-husband Sutton Tennyson

Angela Simmons and her son suffered a tragic loss in 2018 and it looks like justice has finally been served! Michael Williams, the man convicted of murdering Simmons’ late ex-husband, Sutton Tennyson, was sentenced to life in prison in connection with the crime.

According to TMZ, Angela gave an emotional speech in court on Friday, explaining that her 5-year-old son kept asking when his dad was coming home. She also expressed that her son will never know what it feels like to grow up with his father.

Williams was sentenced to life in prison for murder, and sentenced to an additional 15 years for possession of a firearm by a felon. He is said to be eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 30 years behind bars.

As we previously reported, authorities found Tennyson in his garage with multiple gunshot wounds in 2018. He is believed to be talking to a man on the street. driving his car when a heated argument ensued and gunshots were heard. Witnesses said they saw a man speeding in a car after the shot was fired.

Williams turned himself in to the Atlanta Police Department in December 2020, and was charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. Although Williams turned himself in to the police, his attorney upheld his innocence at the time.

Angela previously shared about having difficulty conversation with her son, Sutton Jr about losing his father. During a 2020 episode of ‘Growing Up Hip-Hop’, Angela recalled her baby son explicitly asking if his dad was still alive.

I was with my son, and the feeling is super right, even talking about it. He was looking out the window and he said, ‘Dad, the car is white. I asked him, ‘Where do you see him?’ or ‘Who’s Dad? What does he look like?’ I am asking him. I said, ‘Do you want to see your father?’ and he said, ‘Yes.’ So he came in and I started showing him videos, pictures and stuff, and he stopped. Looks like he hasn’t fully chatted yet, so here’s what makes it so emotional. He was like, “Is he still alive?”

She went on to explain to Sutton Jr that his dad was in “Heaven with God”.

Please continue to pray for Angela and Sutton’s loved ones during this difficult time.
