Miami Chick-fil-A violates 30 health codes including presence of cockroaches

But a Chick-fil-A in Miami-Dade doesn’t seem to fit the bill. Florida officials recently ordered the closure of this particular restaurant after discovering 30 cases of health violations.

Violations include more than 50 types of insects, odorants and leaky garbage bags

Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspected the restaurant based on a complaint. It’s not clear what the complaint says. However, the inspection revealed serious problems for live cockroaches and flying insects. WPLG Local 10 get a copy of the violations found.

“Cockroach activity appears to be evidenced by the presence of live cockroaches. 2 live cockroaches were observed crawling on the wall by the drinking area staff,” the report said. “A live cockroach entered the wall panel strip located in the staff beverage area. One cockroach was observed crawling on the wall of the back storage area”.

Additional violations include “Small flying insects live in kitchens, food preparation areas, food storage areas and/or bar areas.” Inspectors also observed flying insects by the sink, the drink counter in the front counter, the ice machine and the walls. The number of insects varies from two to fifty plus.

Inspectors also found food residue in the prep sink, food residue accumulated on appliance door handles, and “unpleasant odors in the kitchen area.”

“The garbage is not placed in the bin for storage until picked up to make it inaccessible to insects and rodents. The report said the trash bags were in a box with a leaky liquid next to the back door of the kitchen marked as the exit. It also says, “The inside of the oven/microwave has a build-up of black matter/grease/food debris. The grill, fryer, grill and prep area are dirty. “

Location has been ordered closed by Florida officials for violations

Based on WPLG Local 10, location 820 North Miami Beach Boulevard is relatively new. An inspector visited Chick-fil-A last week. After the discovery, officials ordered the place to be closed on August 2. WPLG spoke to the venue manager about the results.

“All of that has been worked out,” the manager said. “We will contact you as soon as possible [public relations] team is ready. “

Dossier showing the department inspector returned on 3/8; however, “many violations still exist.” As a result, the site was not allowed to reopen after the initial re-inspection. WPLG also reported that Chick-fil-A’s manager or PR team never contacted the station to update comment.

At this point, it’s unclear if the venue is still closed. However, WPLG report that “All sites that have been ordered to close have been allowed to reopen after cleaning and re-inspection as ordered.”
