Miami beats Virginia Tech thanks to Moore’s half-court game winner
Charlie Moore prayed Wednesday night, and it was answered.
Moore sank a winning shot in the round at the whistle, delivering a 78-75 road win for Miami (FL) over Virginia Tech. The victory helped Canes top the ACC standings with a score of 7-2 (15-5 final).
With just two minutes to play, Miami beat Virginia Tech by five minutes. Jordan Miller cut the deficit to three seconds later with a tumble, then on next possession blocked a shot to get the ball back. Isaiah Wong missed a ball but was then fouled after the arc, and took all three free throws to equalize.
Virginia Tech had a chance to take the lead, but missed a three-goal lead to equalize for Miami. Kameron McGusty turned the game around for Canes, giving the Hokies another chance, but another missed treble resulted in Miami taking over with 1.8 seconds on the clock.
After a short wait, Miller managed to get the ball to Moore’s position. He executes a dribble, pulls himself up in motion and fires up a shot. He didn’t stop moving when the ball was in the air, drifting toward his bench as it soared over the net to claim it at the whistle.
