Mets buy OF Tyler Naquin and Phillip Diehl Film Festival to trade Reds

Less than a week after choosing 1B/DH Daniel Vogelbach from Milwaukee Brewers, NL East leads New York Mets made another transaction before the August 2 deadline.

According to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, the Mets have acquired midfielder Tyler Naquin and painkillers Phillip Diehl are from Cincinnati Reds.

Naquin Polish .245/.305/.429 with six home runs and 31 RBIs in 55 games for the Reds this season.

The 31-year-old has averaged 18 home runs and 71 RBIs in seven major league seasons with the Cleveland Guardians and Reds.

Diehl has struggled on limited work this season for the Reds, posting an 11.12 ERA in 5.2 turns. 28 years old gone 2-1 with an ERA of 4.24 in 25 games for Triple-A Lousiville.

In exchange for Naquin and Diehl, the Red Devils will receive diminutive players Jose Acuna and Hector Rodriguez, according to’s Mark Feinsand.

This season, Acuna and Rodriguez spent time with the Mets’ rookie team and their Single-A affiliate St. Lucie.

19-year-old Acuna, a right-handed pitcher, is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.67 in eight minor league games this season.

Rodriguez, an 18-year-old midfielder, Polish .342 / .378 / .532 with three home runs and 16 RBIs in 28 games.
