Metroid Dread adds three new Boss Rush modes in a free update

Nintendo just added a New Dread Mode and Rookie Mode for Metroid Dread last month along with the news that a Boss Rush mode will be added to the game in the April update. That update is now available in Metroid Dread and it not only brings a boss mode but also brings three modes into the game.

Marking the second free update to Metroid Dread, this April update adds Boss Rush, Survival Rush, and Dread Rush. In addition, it adds a Training Mode that allows you to practice battles against the many bosses found throughout Samus’ latest journey.

Here is a breakdown of each mode:

Boss Rush

Boss Rush is unlocked after actually completing the Metroid Dread and it will task you with taking on the bosses, one by one. At the end of each battle Samus’ rockets will be restored but any damage you have taken will carry over to the next boss battle. However, each battle will add up to the player’s maximum number of Missiles, Energy Pots, and Power Bombs, depending on where the boss battle takes place in the main game.

Survival peak

To unlock Survival Rush, you must complete Boss Rush. In Survival Rush, you have the task of defeating as many bosses as possible before time runs out. Each boss you defeat adds more time to your timer, and if you can defeat a boss without taking damage, you’ll also get extra time. However, in this mode, rockets and health do not heal between bosses.

Dread Rush

To unlock Dread Rush, you must complete Dread mode, was added to the game in the February update. Dread mode is for the most demanding players as it makes making a single hit lead to instant death. In Dread Rush, you’ll face 12 non-stop bosses – one after another. Just like in Dread Mode, if you hit a single hit in Dread Rush, you will die instantly. Missiles, however, are fully restored after each boss fight.

Training mode

Here’s what Nintendo has to say about this new mode: “If you’re looking to train a bit, you can practice boss battles in this mode. Try to defeat each boss as quickly as possible. You can then go back and check on previous ones to see how you’ve progressed.”
