Mendelssohn Gets First North American Winner at Ellis
Michael Hui half-blood FADETHENOISE (c, 2, Mendelssohn–Hey Paige, by Stay Thirsty). His best (by Scat Daddy) when he graduated with the better of seven lengths. Led by 6-1, chestnuts broke warily and attended at a quick pace while about four people from the inside took turns. Going better than Spain’s Dubloon (Malibu Moon) skimming the rails as they ran around the bend, Fadethenoise grabbed a break on the upper stretch and made it past the final leg. Fadethenoise is the second overall winner for Mendelssohn, who was represented by Shaqra’a Sultan (KSA) debuted on the surface at Ta’if in Saudi Arabia on June 30. Lifetime record: 2-1-0-0. O/B-Michael Hui (KY); T-Mike Maker.
