‘Melting face’ and 36 other emojis appear in Apple’s iOS 15.4 beta

After release Unicode 14Apple is finally starting to bring new emojis to iOS with the release of 15.4 developer beta, Apple Insider reported. As we have detailed last summer, some of the new emojis available are “heart hand”, “troll”, “bite lip” and “melt face”. The latter can be a popular choice for our hard times, literally smiling when your face melts while pandemics and other conflicts rage.

The final version of Unicode 14 also includes multiple skin-tone variations of the handshake emoji, a character that you ironically cannot modify for different skin tones. It takes the Unicode Consortium a good two yearsbut they finally have a new handshake character available with up to 25 different skin color combinations.

Unicode 14.0 is available on Android 12, now available on most major smartphone brands. They’re only available on Apple’s iOS devices with the latest 15.4 developer beta, but should be widely available when the release goes into beta later this year.
