Mel C Says She Was Banned From Dating While Joining the Spice Girls
Melanie Chisholm has revealed how she was banned from dating in the early days of the Spice Girls – while her bandmates were free to pursue romantic relationships.
Better known as Mel C, the singer discussed her new autobiography Who Am I with Australia’s The Project on Tuesday, and said while Melanie Brown, also known as Mel, B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham were able to date at the height of girl group popularity, she was not.
‘Looking back what amazes me is that it was this rule for this and that for the others, wasn’t it? ‘ said 48 years old.

‘I think when you’re also vulnerable, people go, I think it’s not good for you’.
Mel said the rule for other women is ‘she’s fine, she can have a boyfriend, she can cope with having a boyfriend, she’s strong enough but you’re not’.
Mel added: “It makes you question yourself when you are already vulnerable.

Elsewhere in the interview, Mel discussed her bad love affair with Robbie Williams that happened around 1997 – and admitted that he was ‘not lovable’ to her when they were an item .
“He apologized to me and a lot of water went under the bridge and we’re perfectly fine and have been for many, many years,” she said.
Mel admits that the pop star has yet to read the chapter in her memoir detailing their attempt.
