MeitY blocks website, social media site of OTT Platform based in Pakistan

The government on Monday issued instructions to block the website of the Pakistan-based OTT platform, two mobile apps, four social media accounts and a smart TV app, saying a series of films were shown by it is detrimental to the national security and integrity of India.

The Vidly TV platform has released a web series titled Sevak: The Confessions on the anniversary of the 11/26 terrorist attacks in Mumbai and was found to be detrimental to national security, sovereignty and the whole country. integrity of India, said the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Three episodes of web series has been released so far, it said.

“The action against Pakistan-based Vidly TV follows the assessment that the provocative and completely false web series Sevak is sponsored by the Pakistani information apparatus,” ministry senior adviser Kanchan Gupta said on Twitter.

The web series portrays an anti-Indian story about sensitive historical events and topics of national importance such as Operation Blue Star and its aftermath, destruction of Babri Masjid at Ayodhya, killing a Christian missionary named Graham Staines, the Malegaon Explosions, Samjhauta Express explosions and interstate river water disputes involving the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal.
